Abstract Text:
We present detailed calculations, using PIC, particle physics codes and analytic approximations, of the scaling properties of positron yield when an ultra-intense laser irradiates a high-Z target such as gold. We compute the positron yield as a function of laser intensity and duration, target thickness and geometry, and other input parameters. These results will be useful for designing future positron production experiments.
